What is purified water?
Purified water is water that's free from any impurities. Impurities commonly found in ordinary tap water are minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium and Phosphorus are perfectly safe to drink - however when it comes to window cleaning, it's not best practice to use.
In order to create ultra-pure water, specialised filtration systems are used which aim to remove every single mineral, leaving the water 100% purified. It's measured by TDS (total dissolved solids) PPM (parts per million). Average tap water measures somewhere between 180 – 320 PPM, but ultra-pure water should measure at zero PPM or below.
Why do we use it?
When non-purified water dries, the minerals become visible, leaving spot marks on the surface. This obviously doesn't look good – but it also means the windows will get dirty again and quicker, as impurities from rainwater and dust etc, are more likely to cling on to the window if it's covered in impurities.
Our Ultra-Pure Water doesn't leave any mineral deposits or residues behind that could attract dust or effect surfaces' natural shine, meaning our clients enjoy a longer lasting, spotless result.
It also doesn't leave streaks on windows, cladding or any smooth exterior surface like signage.
By nature, purified water relies less on harsh chemicals so is a more environmentally friendly cleaning choice.
By using a water-fed pole and brush system, pure water acts a natural detergent and the runoff from the window cleaning process doesn't harm the plants or grass growing at the base of the building.
Here's a fun fact…
Since most of the mineral content is removed, purified water becomes 'hungry' to acquire other components. So, it aggressively tries to compensate for the loss of ions by taking them away from its surroundings, effectively lifting and removing contaminants from surfaces!
